An enduring icon, the well-known ‘Fay Richwhite Building’ was built jointly for Fay Richwhite and NZI. This 29 storey building set a new benchmark for office accommodation in New Zealand in terms of the articulation and modulation of the façade.

The slender façade is heavily modelled with bay windows providing a strong and elegant exterior while offering excellent daylight penetration into the flexible office floor plates. The still dramatic entrance foyer accessing Queen and Wyndham Streets incorporates what was the first suspended frameless glass assembly in New Zealand. This required extensive research and development on the part of the design team as the technology required was not previously available here.
The building includes what was the first public carpark to be built into an office tower in the Auckland CBD. More than a quarter of a century on from completion the building remains one of the most admired landmarks on Auckland’s skyline.
