Peddlethorp are currently leading the design of Pohutukawa Landing, Metlifecare’s new retirement village located on the Pohutukawa Coast in Beachlands.

The village’s picturesque seaside location along with the rich horticultural history of the area have inspired the vision of providing holistic wellness and a connected, collaborative way of living for residents. This has been reflected in the design through a wide range of exceptional amenities and an abundance of communal spaces to facilitate social interaction and a strong sense of community.
‘The Anchorage’, a central amenity building with café and bar facilities adjacent to the reception area provides a vibrant social hub for catchups with fellow residents, and meeting and greeting friends and family. An integrated state-of-the-art wellness centre includes gym, pool and spa facilities with spaces for activities including physiotherapy and yoga.
Accommodation options have been developed to satisfy diverse lifestyle and care requirements. Three apartment buildings of 78 independent living units will include 1, 2 and 3-bedroom options with landscaped gardens and secure basement carparking. Villas scattered across the site (around 70 in total) feature a variety of typologies to cater for different needs. A Care Building adjacent to the Amenity Building will cater for a full continuum of care, with more than 60 care beds including a dementia wing.
