The redevelopment of Sir John Guise Stadium saw the existing facility upgraded to meet IAAF standards for international track and field competitions.

The grassed infield was upgraded to an international standard turf surface, and lighting towers refurbished to provide lighting levels required for night competition. The main grandstand interior was refurbished to provide spaces for athletes and officials as well as corporate and VIP hospitality areas. In addition, a new International field hockey facility, built close to the stadium with an artificial surface and lighting.
The Stadium was used as the host venue for the opening ceremony of the 2015 Pacific Games, and provides an enduring facility for sport at all levels.
