The village has been designed as three wings connected along the northern ridgeline of the Whakamuhu volcanic crater. All communal facilities are centrally located, opening onto a north-facing courtyard with panoramic views over Glover Park toward Rangitoto and the Auckland CBD to the west.
The building’s form maximises daylight into the apartments, while allowing viewshafts in all directions. The height is stepped down to follow the natural contours of the site and is expressed at the street frontage as a raised two-storey residence, complementing the scale and density of its neighbours.
An exterior palette of textured Italian porcelain tiles combined with locally sourced bronze-anodised weatherboards and rendered concrete finish have been selected for their warm, natural and rich qualities, reflecting the fabric of the surrounding neighbourhood. All balconies have been designed as fully glazed winter gardens to allow year-round use with openable roofs to the upper-level apartments.
