Extensive research was undertaken into optimal sightlines for both spectators and broadcast coverage, a critical part of the new design. The existing pitch was excavated by three metres to provide a new playing surface, with improved sightlines, located as close as possible to spectators.
The completed venue comprises the stadium bowl with integrated light towers and a corporate block containing office space for the stadium administration, players’ facilities, corporate boxes and members’ lounges. Associated facilities include commercial kitchen and hospitality areas as well as media and commentary areas.
