I roto i ngā tau tata nei, kua kaha te aro ō ngā tini tangata ki te reo Maori, ko te reo taketake o Aotearoa. Kua tino tupu ake tōna whakamahinga, e whakatuwhera ana i ngā huarahi ki ngā wāhi hāpori, ahurea, me nga wāhi arumoni.
Kua whakawhanakehia e Peddlethorp tēnei pumanawa-tautono e kīa nei ko Room to Rūma mo Autodesk Revit. Ko Autodesk Revit tētahi ō nga pumanawa-tautono tino matua o Autodesk. E whakamahia whānuitia ana i roto i ngā wāhanga mahi hoahoanga, mahi pūkaha me te mahi hangahanga whare (AEC).
Ko tēnei pumanawa-tautono he kohinga kupu reo Māori mō te mahi hanga kupu i roto i a REVIT. I roto i tēnei whakaputanga tuatahi o Room to Rūma, ko tā mātou whainga, ko te mahi whakamāori i nga ingoa rūma reo Ingarihi, ki runga i nga māhere hoahoanga – ki Te Reo taiwhanga. Hei tauira, ka whakamāori-tia a “Bathroom” ki “Taiwhanga kaukau”, me “Kitchen” ki “Kāuta”.
Ko Room to Rūma tētahi kaupapa taketake tā Peddlethorp, I whakawhanakehia ngātahi ki Te Taura Whiri I te reo Māori. He taputapu whakamāori ngāwari mō nga tohu ingoa i roto i ā REVIT.
International Decade of Indigenous Languages, 2022 – 2032.
He pumanawa-tautono-utu-utu, hei tautoko i te mātauranga auroa ō nga tauira i roto i tēnei wāhanga mahi hoahoa whare. Ahakoa e nohinohi ana, ko tā matou wawata kia haere tonu tana whānaketanga ki ngā rohe katoa, ka noho hei taputapu mo te hoahoa reo rua i te ao.
In recent decades, New Zealand has experienced a renewed and vigorous interest in te reo Māori, the Indigenous language of Aotearoa-New Zealand. Its use has grown exponentially, creating opportunities in social, cultural, and commercial spheres.
Peddlethorp has developed the add-in called Room to Rūma for Autodesk REVIT. Revit is an Autodesk software package, used most widely in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. The add-in is a collection of Māori language words for building terminology within REVIT. For example, in this first release of Room to Rūma, our focus is on translating English room names on architectural plans seamlessly into Te Reo taiwhanga, for example “Bathroom” to “Taiwhanga kaukau”, or “Kitchen” to “Kāuta”.
An original Peddlethorp project, Room to Rūma has been developed in association with Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori (the Māori Language Commission), providing a simple translation tool for room name tags within REVIT.
Room to Rūma supports the normalisation and revitalisation of te reo Māori in an increasingly diverse industry, with opportunity for application across other endangered indigenous languages across the world, aligning strongly with the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, 2022 – 2032.
Room to Rūma is a paid-for add-in with revenue used for the education of deserving students within the building design industry. Although in its infancy, our ambition is that its development will continue locally and it will become the tool for bilingual design internationally.
Room to Rūma is a paid-for subscription add in. Single or multi-user seats are purchased from the Massif App Store. Massif has been developed by CADPRO Systems, an Autodesk Platinum Partner.
To celebrate the launch of the tool, Peddlethorp are offering an extended introductory free trial of Room to Rūma. Visit the Massif App store for more details — Room To Rūma | Buy Licenses | Find Out More
Licencing, delivery and updates of Room to Rūma is managed via the Massif App Store and Massif desktop application. Registration and user assignation to Room to Rūma is also via Massif, using Autodesk user information.
Once registered the application is deployed on the user’s machine and will be visible on the Revit Add-in ribbon
Room to Rūma takes time to develop, support and host. Peddlethorp’s objective for Room to Rūma is to continue to develop the add-in, supporting future releases and dictionary sets for construction typologies and regional dialects.
Peddlethorp also hope to use revenue generated from application licencing for the further education of deserving students studying within the AEC industry.
Trial licences are available, after which a paid subscription will be required. Licenses can be purchased using either monthly or annual subscription. Click the link to access the Massif App Store.

Installation is managed via the Massif Desktop App. The App is downloaded from the Massif.dev website. Once the user is registered and signed in, the application download will be available.
At sign-in, the Massif platform will request permission to validate the user and request access to their Autodesk profile data.
Single seat subscribers will be able to deploy the Massif Desktop App, which when signed in, will deploy Room to Rūma into your REVIT application and validate the licencing.
Multi-seat users will receive an invitation from their organisation admin. The Massif Desktop Application will need to be deployed on each user’s device, which will deploy Room to Rūma in into your REVIT application and validate the licencing.
Room to Rūma is available on the REVIT>Add-in tab of your ribbon.
Room to Rūma installs with a default ‘Residential’ dictionary template available.
Users can load an existing project dictionary (1), start from scratch or use a template dictionary available from the Dictionary Editor (2) – refer Create custom (editable) .dic
The Project Setting dialogue also allows the user to define tag text casing to control all Rūma Tags (3).
Custom typology dictionaries may be created in-app with the Dictionary Editor.
Dictionaries may also be created or edited outside of REVIT using the proprietary editor at; C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<revit version>\RoomToRuma\Editor\R2REditor.exe.
The dictionary editor is available from the Add-in dropdown or can be run independently. The editor includes the usual functions; Open (1), New (2), Save, Save As, Add, Edit & Delete.
Users can choose to create their own dictionary set (3), or start with the Residential template (4). The destination for the dictionary file must be defined (5) before saving.
Project Dictionaries should be saved at a location available to all editors.
Once successfully created, the active dictionary location is displayed at the bottom of the editor dialogue.
Once the project settings and dictionary are defined, running the translate routine produces a success report, identifying;
Total Rooms (1) – count of rooms in project
Rooms Translated (2) – count of rooms translated
Rooms up to date (3) – count of rooms previously translated
Rooms NOT found (4) – count of rooms NOT included in current dictionary (includes list of NOT rooms.
The Rūma tag family is automatically loaded into the Family>Generic Annotation category when the user first runs the add-in. The family includes several tag Types depending on what the user chooses to display.
Which version of Revit are supported?
The first release of Room to Rūma is compatible with Revit 2024.
Do you have a release for Revit 2025
Not yet. This is something we are working on.
Will you continue to support future Revit Releases?
Yes. We hope to be able to release updates as long as demand continues.
Why do you need to collect my contact information?
We want to know who is using Room to Rūma and to be able to keep you informed about product updates and enhancements.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Neither Peddle Thorp, Zeawii or Massif will not pass your details onto any 3rd party.
Can I run the Dictionary Editor without Revit?
Yes. The installer is deployed at “C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\<revit version>\RoomToRuma\Editor\R2REditor.exe”. Users can Create and Edit dictionary files independently of an active Revit session.
I’ve created a dictionary, why can’t I translate my project?
Check that you have linked your dictionary to the project in the ‘Project Settings’ dialogue.
Can I save the translation report?
No. At the time of writing, this is not an available feature. We recommend adding the Rūma parameter to a Room schedule.
I’ve successfully translated the project, but nothing happened?
Check your room Tag. Room to Rūma does not automatically swap existing tags. We recommend Selecting All Instances ‘Visible in view/In Entire Project’ and choosing the Rūma Tag family in the Properties browser.
Why does the Translate Report list duplicate names NOT in dictionary?
The Translate Report lists all unsuccessful translations and their individual Element IDs. We recommend using a Room schedule for a more ‘manageable’ list.
Why can’t I save my dictionary changes/edits.
You may be attempting to edit the template. You cannot edit the .dic files that ship with Room to Rūma (saved at C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2024\RoomToRuma). You must create a new dictionary from the templates to make custom edits.
Where should I save my custom dictionaries?
We expected that users would want the ability to have different custom dictionaries for different projects. We recommend saving the custom project dictionary with your network project files.
Can I have a single central dictionary for my organisation?
Yes. You can choose to link all projects to a single dictionary but remember that all edits would be available to all linked projects.
Will my dictionary edits be automatically updated?
No. You will need to re-run the Translate tool to update any edits.
Why am I receiving schema error warnings when I rename a room?
This is a known bug. If you run Room to Rūma in an active project and then access another project file that does not have a Project Dictionary assigned (and without restarting your Revit session), you will receive a schema error.
My Translation Report is not listing all my rooms?
You may have rooms in linked files. Room to Rūma will only translate rooms in the host file. We recommend using a room schedule in your host project to QA your linked rooms.
Will Room to Rūma report unsuccessful/unknown rooms in my project links?
No. You will need to run R2R in each link to translate their rooms. We recommend using a room schedule in your host project to QA your linked rooms.
Does the Ruma tag report linked rooms?
Yes, if you have translated the linked file(s) with Room to Rūma, the Ruma tag will display the Rūma parameter.
I opened the ‘About’ panel, and now I can’t use Revit?
If you have the ‘About’ dialogue open, and you click the background Revit window, the About dialogue will be sent to the back of your display. Minimise your windows (Win+M) to access and close the dialogue.
How do I know if I have an activated license?
Your License state and expiry is displayed on the About page.
My Room to Rūma has stopped working?
Your license key may have expired. License keys are issued for 12 months. Please check your license issue date, or contact your Organisation Admin.
How do I renew my license?
Renewals and activations are managed via the Massif App Store
Do the usual disclaimers apply?
Yes.
What information is accessed when I ‘Allow’ Massif to access my Autodesk Data?
When you click ‘Allow’ when you sign in to the Massif Platform, we collect the following information from Autodesk:
